Southern Beauties failing Bollywood

Southern Beauties failing in Bollywood

Large numbers of hopefuls come to Bollywood, aspiring to attain stardom here. The film industry has attracted talent from all other film industries in the country and south Indian film industry is no different. While actresses like Sridevi and Rekha were successful, many others could not duplicate that success for themselves and had to return the familiar world of Southern films.
Let's have a look at some of these actresses.

Shriya Saran has acted opposite Superstar Rajnikanth in Sivaji. Starting her career in 2001, Shriya Saran soon had producers signing her up for other projects. However she has not had much luck in Hindi films, with her debut project Awarapan did not get a hit tag. Her follow-up project Mission Istanbul too tanked at the Box Office.

Priyamani has won national award for her performance in Tamil film Paruthi Veeran and has a Filmfare award in her bag for her Malyalam film Thirakkatha. She is said to be one of the most successful actresses in southern film industry today. But for all her achievements down south, her Bollywood debut was in a supporting role in Mani Ratnam's Raavan. The film failed to create magic at the BO.

Trisha's bollywood debut was in Priyadarshan's Khatta Meetha opposite Akshay Kumar. The film has not generated much news and did average business. Ironically, though, Trisha is said to be one of the best actresses in Southern film industry and has numerous awards for her roles in films like Mounam Pesiyadhe, Ghilli and Varsham in her award tally.
